Established in 2011, Bravo Music has been the leading music lesson expert in West Side Vancouver.

At Bravo Music Academy, we offer a full range of music programs — including private lessons, group classes, and practice support sessions — designed for students of all ages and skill levels.

Meet the Team

​Principle

Shuangming Liu

Shuangming Liu, a distinguished pianist and graduate of the Central Conservatory of Music in China, brings over 20 years of dedicated teaching experience to her role as Principal of Brandenburg Music Academy in Richmond. Under her leadership, students have consistently achieved outstanding results, winning top prizes at prestigious national and international competitions.

Beyond teaching, Ms. Liu served as the piano coach for John Woo’s acclaimed film Taiping Lun (太平轮), collaborating with renowned Japanese composer Tarō Iwashiro on the film’s musical arrangements and providing piano training to South Korean actress Song Hye-kyo(宋慧乔). Her artistic accomplishments and contributions to music education have also been recognized in an exclusive feature interview with Musician, one of China’s most respected music journals.

​Silvia He

Silvia He is a cellist and MBA graduate from Trinity Western University. She plays with the Vancouver Philharmonic Orchestra and brings strong expertise in arts administration. At Bravo & Brandenburg Music Academy, she oversees operations and student services, ensuring professional and efficient management of the school’s music training programs.

​Angela

Angela is a highly experienced piano instructor with over 25 years of teaching experience. She holds ATCL, LTCL, and FTCL diplomas in Piano Recital, as well as LTCL and FTCL diplomas from Trinity College London. She specializes in preparing students for RCM and ABRSM examinations, guiding them to achieve outstanding results.

​Anqi

Anqi is a pianist with 14 years of teaching experience and a Bachelor of Music degree from the Belarussian State Academy of Music. She has been recognized for her excellence in music education, receiving the Outstanding Teacher Award from the Canada International Arts & Music Society in 2017, the Extraordinary Teaching Achievement Award from Carnegie Hall in 2019, and the Teaching Contributor Award from the Steinway Piano Competition in 2020.

​Tatyana

Tatyana is a pianist with a Master of Music degree from the Tashkent State Conservatory in Uzbekistan. With over 20 years of teaching experience and a strong foundation in the Russian pedagogical tradition, she equips her students with both solid technical skills and deep musicality. Her students have consistently achieved outstanding results in competitions and examinations, including Kiwanis, BCCM, and RCM.

Zoe​

Zoe holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Tunghai University in Taiwan and has over 40 years of teaching experience. Having received systematic training in Orff music education, she has developed her own unique educational philosophy and methods. Over the years, she has helped hundreds of students overcome learning challenges and discover confidence and joy through music.

Calvin

Calvin holds a Master of Music degree from McGill University. He is the Principal Viola of the Prince George Symphony Orchestra and performs regularly with ensembles including the Vancouver Island Symphony Orchestra in Nanaimo, the Kamloops Symphony Orchestra, and the Vancouver Metropolitan Orchestra. With many years of teaching experience, he specializes in violin and viola instruction, combining professional performance expertise with dedicated pedagogy.

Gary

Gary Sun holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Victoria and a Certificate in Digital Music Production from Langara College. In addition to teaching violin, viola, voice, and music production, he works actively as a singer and producer, and serves as the director of the Elgar Strings Ensemble.

Irene

Irene holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Aragón in Spain. With 13 years of teaching experience, she specializes in violin and Suzuki violin instruction, fostering both technical skill and a lifelong love of music in her students.

Katherine

Katherine holds a Master of Performance Violin from the University of Toronto, McGill University for her Bachelor of Music degree. As a chamber musician, she regularly performs in the Classical Context concerts at the Canadian Music Centre, and for the York Region Chamber Music series. Outside of performing and teaching violin and piano, she can teach RCM music theory and harmony.

Thomas

Thomas holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Tianjin University in China. With 10 years of teaching experience, he is dedicated to providing high-quality violin instruction and inspiring students to achieve excellence in their musical journey.

Bryan​

Bryan holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Victoria. He has great experience playing solo, chamber music and orchestra.His teaching style is lively and approachable, making him greatly popular among students. His cello students have won silver awards at the Kiwanis Music Festival, and his piano students have consistently achieved high scores on RCM exams, including outstanding results of over 90% on Level 8 examinations.

Vicky​

Vicky is an experienced music instructor with 10 years of teaching experience. In addition to her teaching career, she has been an active performer for many years and has held several solo concerts in Taiwan, showcasing her artistry and passion for music.

Joel holds a Master of Music degree from the University of British Columbia and serves as Vice President of the Vancouver Classical Guitar Society. With 15 years of teaching experience, he is dedicated to guiding students in mastering guitar technique and developing expressive musicianship.

Jessica

Jessica holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of British Columbia and has 17 years of teaching experience. She brings extensive ensemble experience, having performed with the Edmonton Youth Orchestra, UBC Symphonic Wind Ensemble, UBC Symphony Orchestra, and the Vancouver Academy of Music Orchestra.

Vikcy

Vicky is a music educator with over 22 years of teaching experience across China, Australia, and Canada. As a flutist, she has been active as a soloist, chamber musician, and ensemble performer, appearing in recitals, masterclasses, and with the UVic Wind Symphony.
